Detail shots during a wedding day are some of my favorites. I typically rent the 100 macro just for this portion of the day (because I have commitment issues and won’t just buy one.)
However, I did find this great little extender pack on Amazon for my 50mm. There are 4 different extension tubes, and they attach to the end of your lens. Granted, this is a $20 tool and not an $800 investment. All things considered, it is great and super fun to play around with.
I used my grandmother’s 25th wedding anniversary ring I was gifted when I turned 18. The simple and elegant Tiffany setting photographs beautifully and is one of my favorite rings.
Here is an iPhone snap of the set-up I used to create the following images:
Tip#1: Shoot by a window or source of natural light, especially with jewelry. It makes everything sparkle and looks the best.
Tip#2: Play around with the manual focus, sometimes it’s much sharper.
(Super fabulous)
Here are the shots:
These were shot at a 1.4 and 2,500 of a second on my Canon 7D.
You can find these exact lenses here: Macro Extension Set
I hope this was helpful! I love playing around with these and think you can get some beautiful photos.
